On Wednesday, January 16th, 2019, members of The Smoketown Rotary Club of Brunswick, MD will host an informational session for students & their families to learn more about the launch of an Interact Club at BHS in 2019. The presentation will happen from 2:30pm – 3 at BHS.
Interact Clubs bring together young people to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of ‘Service Above Self’. Rotary International sponsors over 20,000 Interact Clubs in 159 countries around the world. Kids learn that ‘Serious Leadership can be Serious Fun’ as they generate & implement ideas for community & international projects.
The main presenter will be Sophie Smith, current Manager of Brunswick Main Street and a former President of her High School Interact Club. Ms. Smith also participated in the Rotary International Exchange Program and the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Program.
After the presentation, attendees will be encouraged to walk over to the gym and support the BHS Unified Bocce Ball Team in their match with Oakdale.
A follow up informational session is planned for March 12th at the same time.
Students who are interested in joining the Interact Club for the 2019/20 school year will be invited to participate in two upcoming Smoketown Rotary Events: The April 18th Brunswick Main Street Clean Up & Beautification and the May 19th Maryland Heights Hike & Trash Pick up to benefit Rotary International Initiative KIVA.
